POSTGRADUATE COURSES: APPLY FOR “DEVELOPMENT LAW, POLICY AND ADVOCACY” – DELPA COURSE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CARITAS INTERNATIONALIS TO ADDRESS SOCIETAL ISSUES CONNECTED TO POLICY DEVELOPMENT AND HUMAN RIGHTS PROTECTION
The Sant’Anna School Dirpolis Institute (Law, Politics and Development) offers students advanced knowledge in the key areas of development law, human rights advocacy, and policy advocacy from a comparative and international perspective. Organized in partnership with Caritas Internationalis, the 1st program Development Law, Policy and Advocacy (“Delpa”) includes elements of advocacy skills training and legislative strategy. The program can be studied at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa from 14 January 2021. The application deadline is December 1, 2020.
This course offers students a comprehensive understanding in the fields of human rights and development initiatives combined with legislative drafting and policy advice to government and non-government organizations. Under faculty supervision by course director Gianluigi Palombella, Professor of Applied Legal Theory , and the director of the PhD program in Law, together with researcher Cristina Napoli, as the course coordinator, students will explore legal issues relevant to the Agenda 2030 for sustainable development, poverty, inequality, migration, social justice, peace and climate change. Students will learn the relationship between legal advocacy and human security strategy to deliver a broad range of legal services through a person-centered approach for a practical application in different organizational contexts, and areas of operation.
The Delpa program offers 120 hours specialist modules supported by experts and tutors from January 14 to February 20, 2021, and 120 hours internship programs from March to September in a national and international work environment. The course is taught in English language. All in-person classes will be cancelled in case of resurgence of Covid-19 cases.
On successful completion of the Development Law, Policy and Advocacy program, students earn 13 credits.
